Borg Warner Power Drive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as Supplier Quality Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible to organize, plan, prioritize, operate, and monitor the daily activities of the Incoming Inspection Technician area and allocated facilities
- Conduct and oversee incoming inspection activities, collecting, analyzing and interpreting results in accordance with company procedures
- Perform clerical duties, maintaining records and files and compiling data and reports as required
- Maintain supplier quality supplies and materials inventory
- Support development and implement systems designed to support incoming inspection activities
- Responsible for the incoming inspection audits per existing control plan and dedicated area for this activity
- Creation and control of CPM (Complaints on Purchased Material – Complaints for Purchased Materials) for suppliers in the plant
- Tracking the 8Ds of Suppliers to improve quality issues
- Provide quality training to suppliers, when necessary
- Coordinate actions to improve the performance of suppliers, so that they reach the established goals
- Coordinate the resolution of technical problems at the supplier
- Drive process improvements at supplier sites
- Conduct supplier audits on implemented corrective actions and process improvements
- Control on-hold materials on Quality cage in the warehouse
- Work when necessary, with external sorting companies to sort raw material with quality issues
- Ensure adequate feedback is provided to the internal customer (Production) on the actions of suppliers and the organization of raw material replacement in quality matters
- Support the change management process, when necessary
- Coordinate the APQP process as part of the launch of new products under plant responsibilities, assuring APQP deadlines are successfully met
- Ensure APQP steps are completed and report the supplier's progress/problems on APQP to the BW project team
- Coordinate with SDE’s located at tech centers, for supplier developed components at global level, the PPAP parts received are 100% on spec per tech center report and plant report
- Assure measurement programs and methods are transferred to the plant from tech centers
- Assure correct engagement of the metrology technician in order to confirm (by measuring 100% PPAP parts dimensions) report from tech centers are correct before PPAP approval by SDE’s.
- Review and arrange supplier PPAP submissions for components developed locally
- Ensure that the PPAP calendar stays on time and meets project time objectives for components developed locally
- Responsible for ensuring all PPAP requirements are met and documentation updated
- Complete the assessment of quality systems at the supplier's premises
- Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards
- Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule
- Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
- Respect and comply with environmental policy rules
- Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the environmental management system
- Degree in Engineering or in a related technical area
- 3 or more years of experience
- Solid knowledge in solving industrial problems (8D Methodology) and manufacturing processes (required)
- Solid knowledge of ISO-9001/IATF16949 standard requirements, including APQP and PPAP (Preferred)
- Good computer skills
- Minitab user (is a plus)
- Interpersonal Communication
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in Portuguese
